Finality and Plyometrics (AKA Mega Ouchie)

Today was definitely a day for finality. I was ale to turn in my severance letter last Friday, but the local HR rep couldn't meet with me for the final turn in. For that I had to wait till today. I got to turn in my computer, badge, phone, etc. Going through the process gives a sense of finality and definitely was a downer for the day.

With that, you might expect me to skip a day. Well, thanks to my wife being persistent I did day two of P90-X. This isn't my first attempt at trying to complete the program. It's just as exhausting as I remember it being. Since I'm so out of shape since I last tried I didn't make it all the way through (about 40 minutes through). I let it get to the point where my legs were cramping non stop before moving on. Well, there's tomorrow to look forward to.

On a secondary note, I've discovered a very cool show that I kept hearing about, but never took the leap until now. I started "House of Cards" the original series created by Netflix. I'm definitely looking forward to finishing the rest of season one.

Starting Fresh

Here's my new blog.  With a lot of changes going on in my life, I felt it was a good idea to start fresh.  With that in mind here I go.

I'm an overweight, mid-30's man.  I've been told that I can do a decent Barry White impression due to my voice and size.  I definitely look nothing like him, but I do have a similar shape and timbre.  Father of 1 (soon to be 2) who got caught up in a RIF (AKA "Layoff").  My job now is the following:

  • Help out my wife during her pregnancy (and with Tadpole when she comes)
  • Help out and spend time with Munchkin
  • Look for a new job
  • Do something about my weight

Since today is my first work day not needing to go to work, I decided to start P90-X.  Today was disc 1, Chest and Back.  All I can say is "ow."  Doing push-ups with obstacles makes things more challenging.  Always fun when someone says "Hi" right back up at you when you're in the starting push up position.  Oh well, next time will be loads more fun.  ;)

There's a heat warning that is unusual for this time of year going on.  I stayed hydrated so I should be fine.

My wife's been cooking Paleo/Primal for the last year so I figure I've got the diet piece down.  You can read about what delicious meals she's made here. Now I just need to stick with it.  I have about 120 pounds to lose.  Day 1 nearly down, who knows how many left to go.
